Let's talk about alternative medicine. The World Health Organisation has issued a warning about the expected rise in cases of cancer over the next decade. Despite cuts in research funding, huge technical advances are being made in methods of detection and cure of these human diseases. Alternative medical approaches continue to be sidelined in favour of those promoted by the pharmaceutical industry whose published research results have recently been put under the spotlight. Is there a place for homeopathy, acupuncture, mind over matter and other alternative procedures as medical treatment?
